A Medicare plan review is much easier when you have the right information in front of you. A little preparation makes the comparison more useful and reduces follow-up work.
Your current coverage
Bring your red, white and blue Medicare card and any current plan cards. If Medicare has not started, bring information about employer, retiree, COBRA or individual coverage and the date it will end.
Your prescriptions and pharmacy
Prescription coverage can change the total cost of a plan. Include each medication name, dosage, refill frequency and preferred pharmacy.
- Brand-name and specialty medications
- Mail-order preferences
- Any prior authorization or step-therapy concerns
Your providers and priorities
List your primary doctor, specialists, hospitals and facilities. Then identify what matters most: predictable costs, provider flexibility, a lower monthly premium, travel access or specific additional benefits.
